Sweet Heart Soap... Please Come Back!

I tried to order more Sweet Heart soap a few weeks ago, and boy, was I in for a rude awakening! It was out of stock and did not look like it would be back any time soon, if ever. I love my Sweet Heart soap! I have just so many wonderful memories of visiting my grandmother's house, where she kept Sweet Heart soap by the bathtub and all the sinks. I always felt so special when I used it... ooh that lovely smell! We could not get this soap in the part of the country where I lived. So that sweet scent was always tied to visits with my grandma. I thought that the Vermont Country Store would keep having this soap in their catalog. But for now it is unavailable. There is a little hope though. When I called today, the representative said that it is scheduled to be in their catalog this coming February. I am not convinced though. So the few bars that I have left are only for use in the lingerie drawer!

Mother and Child... Act Two

This is the same mother cat as in the picture below. This is the second family she has had since that picture. But it is a family of only one. This is the lone kitten. I wanted to just snip that blade of grass! But it would have scared the mom away. Such a sweet scene!

Mother and Child

I took this picture last October of the cat next door with her kitten. There is a picture of the kitten in an earlier post below. I have no idea what the mom's name is, or if she has one. The poor thing is treated like a stray, and I do not know how many litters of kittens she has had since she came to live next door... I would say at least 6 or 7, maybe more. I have no idea where the kittens go when they are weaned. They have never bothered to have her spayed. It really is a sickening feeling to see her being worn out, having litter after litter. She has had two litters since this pictures was taken. Right now she has a single kitten with her, no more that a few days old. I feed her to keep her going and make sure she has what she needs to nurse her kitten.

People need to be responsible and have their pets spayed and neutered so that the cycle of unwanted pets is stopped.

A Small Butterfly, Casts a Long Shadow!

You just cannot get a butterfly to pose on command! I waited and waited for it to open it's wings, and when it did, I missed it. Usually this was due to me fending off mosquitoes, who love the humid morning air. I stood in the same position for almost a half hour. Finally the butterfly and I were in sync, and I snapped this pic. At least I believe it is a butterfly and not a moth. She or he is not the most colorful thing on the planet, but pretty all the same. The background was gray to begin with, but I changed it to black and white, and left the butterfly in color.

It's Spring Again!

How wonderful to have spring here again! The winters here are not as bad as they used to be... but they are still quite cold, in my opinion. But spring is the nicest time of year. With just a few inches of rain, and a sprinkling of warm days, all the plants really take off! Above is a picture of our Indian Hawthorne in bloom. I hope wherever you are from, you are having a lovely spring too!
